Department head for Greenland Climate Research Centre in Greenland Institute of Natural Resources
As the current department head of the Greenland Climate Research Centre has chosen to pursue new opportunities, the Greenland Institute of Natural Resources is seeking for a new department head to lead an interdisciplinary centre focusing on climate and marine ecology research in Greenland.

The Greenland Climate Research Centre (GCRC) is anchored at the Greenland Institute of Natural Resources. The centre integrates natural sciences, social sciences and local knowledge with the aim of studying the impacts of climate change on Greenland's marine ecosystem and society.

GCRC is an important point of contact for foreign researchers with an interest in climate research projects in Greenland, and GCRC has extensive research collaboration with universities and research institutions worldwide.

The centre works within six main programmes:
  • Climate and Society
  • Glacier-Ocean interactions
  • Greenland Benthic Habitats
  • Marine Ecology and Climate
  • Marine Monitoring Programs.
GCRC leads long-term programmes monitoring the marine environment and oceanography along Greenland's coasts and develops and offers research-based educational courses. GCRC also contributes research-based advice to the Greenland and Danish authorities.

Scope of Work
Reporting to the Director of the Greenland Institute of Natural Resources, the centre head is responsible for the day-to-day management and overall responsibility for the centre's function. The centre head must be able to secure funding for new research projects that, by using existing logistical platforms, complement and improve the Greenland Institute of Natural Resources' existing activities and time series.

The centre head must participate in existing international collaborations and develop new partnerships with other research institutions.

In addition, emphasis is placed on international research experience and in-depth knowledge of Greenland conditions.
