The Department of Environment and Mineral Resources is looking for a researcher/advisor in the analysis and processing of data on biology and nature.
The Greenland Institute of Natural Resources generally advises the Government of Greenland on issues related to living resources and natural conditions.
The tasks in the department consist of advice and monitoring on the protection of the environment and nature through mineral resource activities, monitoring of the terrestrial environment under climate change, and work with data on the seabed, nature and environment in Greenland. In addition, a number of associated projects.

TasksYour focus will be on analysis and presentation of spatial data about nature in Greenland. Your work will take place in collaboration with researchers and advisers across the department's subject areas.
You are expected to be responsible for:
- Analysis of data from satellite and drone for specific projects, especially regarding vegetation.
- Analyses, maps and other products for publications.
- Organisation and dissemination of the department's data collections and databases, etc.
You are expected to participate in:
- The preparation of texts and figures for scientific publications based on your work.
- Other projects and assignments across the department's subject areas.
- Communication with colleagues as well as external partners and stakeholders regarding data.
RequirementsWe are looking for a person with a higher science education, e.g. a master's degree in biology, physical geography, agricultural science or related sciences. You have experience with handling and analyzing data recorded from satellites or drones as well as databases, e.g. using R, SQL, Python, QGIS and ArcGIS Pro. You have knowledge of the biological disciplines, including biological fieldwork.
Knowledge of the Greenlandic language and society is an advantage, but not a prerequisite.
Salary and terms of employment:Salary and terms of employment, including the right to travel on or off and to move household effects, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of accession between the Government of Greenland and the organisation entitled to negotiate.
The place of employment is Nuuk. Some travel activity must be expected in connection with e.g. fieldwork and meetings.
Starting date 1 December 2025 or soon thereafter. The position is limited to 2 years with the possibility of extension.
The working hours are 40 hours weekly.
For the position, unfurnished accommodation is assigned according to the rules in force at any given time. Rent and deposit are paid according to the rules in force at any given time for the assigned accommodation. The home is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated at the end of the employment relationship.
Rent and housing standard can vary depending on the age of the home, ownership, etc.
